Witness the World's Premier Sheepdog Championship at
Soldier Hollow, Utah's Favorite 2002 Olympic Venue

Former Silver Medalist Tony Stewart on the hillside at Soldier Hollow.
Visit the Soldier Hollow Classic once and it's easy to see why Britain's International Sheepdog News called Soldier Hollow "...the foremost trial in the world..." Going into it's sixth year it has seen champions compete from fourteen countries representing the best of three continents. These competitors have come to test their own skills and those of their dogs on the Olympic hillside at Soldier Hollow. You will see a small group of range sheep (raised on the open range) released some 450 yards away on the hillside above Soldier Hollow. It's up to one small dog to do what he was born to do, what he has trained to do and what he loves to do: He must race up the hillside and gather those sheep and then carefully bring them through a specified course, separate some from the group, and then place them in a small pen. This must all be done in a matter of minutes. In it's own way it's poetic, and what one writer called "strangely compelling." You have to be there to understand the drama that brings thousands to their feet.
In addition to hillside competition we also feature our IFA Country Traditions Festival, Utah's best festival food (featuring Utah Lamb), and host of activities and performances to please the whole family including: the Ultimate Canines flying dog show, duck herding, dog training, Navajo rug show and agricultural animal displays.
We'll see you on Labor Day weekend at Soldier Hollow in Heber!
Those wanting to compete at Soldier Hollow should select the "Competitions," tab, then select Sheepdog Championship for information.
